Something's been bothering me about the fencing photograph. See the girl leaning again the balustrade...where's her head?
-also, one of the team members looks like a man in a wig. (at the end, on the left...near the headless girl)

USC has quite a few pictures of Exposition Park from the '30s. Here's a couple that show the balustrade. I'm still trying to work out which building is peeking through the trees behind the fencing team. It may be the end of the building in the second picture below.

I was also confused by the apparently headless girl, but it's an optical illusion. Look where her knees are - they give a good indicator of her height. She actually has at least one of her forearms on her forehead, most likely shielding her eyes from the sun.
