Wow, you guys are out to lunch.

It is not about trying to be someone's definition or "world class" or building a literal "Times Square." Not in the slightest. It is about honouring the original spirit of Granville Street and its rich legacy as the heart of Vancouver nightlife and entertainment, with its colourful neon lights, visually dynamic signs and electric energy, which dates back to at least the 1920s.

With the replacement of the Optical Building and the refurbishment of the Sears Building, Vancouver had an excellent opportunity to restore the integrity of that part of Granville with buildings whose exteriors acknowledge (and, ideally, add to) the street's true spirit and character, currently and historically.

It is about being Vancouver.
