I don't think the bridges are cable stayed for seismic requirements, as other types of bridges can be successfully designed and build to seismic requirements, rather cable stay's are the most cost effective for the current span, height, constructability, and seismic requirements of the recent and current Vancouver bridges.
Note, within the cable stay bridges in Vancouver, there are some major differences (superdosed, steel deck/concrete deck, post tensioned concrete, etc).
