With that, there is no doubt New York will be the most coveted state for racing year-round. It will bring more owners, horses and lead to more wagering. The breeders are hopeful it will also lead to increases in stallions, mares and farms.
"New York, in my mind, has always been the most important state in racing," Collier said. "(With the purse increases) Every top trainer will want to run at Belmont, Aqueduct and Saratoga. It will have the best purse structure in the world, and I mean that."
