Even on the Canada Line trains, mobility is a huge issue - and why? Row seating!!!
I cannot emphasize enough how many more people could be comfortably boarded into each train if InTransitBC had used side seating, or at least a lot more of it. HOWEVER, within that standing space there also needs to be sufficient bars and handles to hold onto otherwise people will be reluctant to stand there, thus you're wasting space just like with row seating.
