My wife and I took the opportunity to ride down to the Jazz festival this weekend on both Sat and Sunday. We live 6K out of downtown on the east side, but it was still a pleasant and relatively quick trip.

However, it is still a challenge as a bike rider to navigate our streets and traffic in Saskatoon. One observation downtown is that the designated bike lane along Spadina Cres is in pathetic condition. We crossed the Traffice bridge and headed down Spadina Cres under the Broadway bridge. The designated bike lane starts as you come up from under the Broadway bridge. It currenty is nothing but broken asphalt and pot holes. Not conducive to bikes (or any other wheeled transportation) at all! As one of the very few totally dedicated bike lanes in the city, and along one of the more scenic and tourist sections of the city, it is sad commentary on our city's commitment to biking and active transportation.

BTW...Jazz festival was great. This city shines during summer festiveal season!
