The emergency ferry should be set up from Horseshoe Bay to Squamish. Probably the most at risk portion of the highway is the section that slid last summer, immediately north of Porteau Cove, rendering that terminal useless. The Darryl Bay terminal in Squamish should be (and should have been) upgraded to handle a Queen of Capilano-size (Bowen or Southern Gulf Islands) ferry.
Besides that, the transportation plan looks decent. As best as they can do I suppose. The viaducts, expo & pacific blvds, and renfrew street closures are to be expected for security reasons, so that isn't a big deal, and the pedestrian malls of robson, granville, hamilton, mainland aren't a big loss anyway. Anyone remember the night when the Canucks beat the Stars in April of 07'? Robson pretty much became a pedestrian mall whether the police liked it or not.
The transit pass for $200 for two months seems fair, provided that regular residents can still purhcase regular 1-zone passes if they want to. Or just a single month 2-zone pass as per usual. The express buses to Whistler and Cypress are decently priced, especially the Whistler bus. I hope there is a West Van pickup/dropoff location at Park Royal like there was for the World Cup as well though. Driving from the base of Cypress (where I live) all the way to North Van to catch a bus right back to bascially the same place would be a pain in the ass. Or even a pickup/dropoff/taxi/busloop at Mulgrace School would be good. But probably too small.
Question. Is Highway 99 still going to be open to residents/regular traffic during off-peak times?
