to me, vancouver is in an odd position culturally. the city only has been around for a hundred or so years but it changes almost daily with each new wave of immigration. there are so many voices in this city that almost everybody gets drowned out.

i think it is important to have a set of symbols, heroes, history, ceremonies etc (the building blocks of culture) that we all can draw on and unify around, however, technically that is impossible in this culturally diverse city.

it has seemed that the native culture, specifically the Haida culture, has been our common denominator. and i have no problems with that, especially because it is a rich and interesting culture with plenty of symbolism. also, because our Native cultures have had a "hard time" over the past century, its a way of healing..... perhaps

anyways, i agree with Pinion. Inuit belong in the Territories and Greenland. there are other local native influences to draw upon
