I actually liked the idea of the alpine ceremonies. For one thing, it saves having to literally bus the athletes to and from Vancouver if they win. Plus to anyone viewing, it is not going to be that big a deal to see images from Whistler instead of Vancouver.

My first thought reading this is it is some type of pressure to insure more housing or something from Whistler. Maybe there is a dispute over the cost of having to find alternative housing - and who has to pay for it. This might beVANOC's way of saying "well, we have to save money some how . . . guess we could the operational budget by striking the Whistler awards ceremonies since you haven't done enough to help us contain costs elsewhere (hint, hint)."

Yet, in the end, I agree with Whistler being upset even more.
