No doubt Georgia is also at blame here, I distinctly said it certainly was to blame as well, all I was saying is that what you had posted was even more Russian biased than much of the western media has been Georgian biassed. (which how am I to stay away from since I only speak English?). While Russia had some right to come into South Osiettia and attempt to place them in between the Georgians and Osettians they have gone far past the Georgian province of SO and have been bombing civilian targets within Georgia, and like I said occuping positions just outside of Tiblisi, far inside Georgia. This includes the cluster bombing of the city of Gori, weapons declared illegal by numerous international bodies, let alone being dropped on an urban civilian area. Far from a benevolent peace keeping mission I would say. There is a large difference from the multilateral UN peace keeping missions with strict rules of engagement and the military actions of Russia in Georgia. I think this is why you see an anti Russian bias in the media, as they have far overstepped their bounds and acted incredibly heavily handedly in a situation that only had the possibility of spilling over into a civil war. Even by Russian estimates the number of casualties in the initial skirmishes were in the neighbourhood of 60. This to me does not justify the intensive military campaign Russia has embarked on, and Russia’s actions are certainly worthy of international scorn. Has the western media been biased? Yes certainly, but that is no surprise, one can only surmise the Russian media has been far more biased itself, thankfully no one outside of Russia pays it any mind. It is all really a moot point however, as Sochi will never lose the games because of this small international incident, unless it continues out longer or escalates further.
