I'm wondering what people feel about the city kicking in cash to close the deal.. This sorta reminds me of the late 80's era of downtown development where the was giving tax concessions to developers to build projects on the hope of recouping the cash via increased spin offs...

Also I am wondering about the supporting local arts vs. subsidizing corporate media issue. It's sort of funny that there is very little support to creating our own cultural industry, but tons of it for our efforts to join the "race to the bottom" subsidy mentality of getting outside companies to locate some of their productions here...
