Jim Wilson Jr. Dies
One of Montgomery's most prominent and successful businessmen has died.
Jim Wilson, Jr. died shortly after 8 o'clock Thursday evening. He had been battling cancer for several months.
In 1975, he founded Jim Wilson and Associates which grew into a premiere real estate development firm in the southeast. In the 31 years since, the company developed more than 21 million square feet of shopping center space in nine southeastern states, including the Galleria and the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, and the Wynlakes residential development and Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery.
Despite his battle with cancer, Jim Wilson Jr. was at the office everyday, up until Thursday when he was admitted to Baptist Hospital.
Wilson will be remembered for his generous support of dozens of charitable and educational causes in Montgomery. He was 72-years-old.
