New Brunswick OKs 45‑story, 800‑unit apartment tower on George Street

NEW BRUNSWICK – With little comment or discussion, the city Planning Board approved a proposal to build a 45‑story apartment building on George Street.
The $500 million project would include 800 apartments, with 20% designated as affordable housing. Of the affordable units, 32 would be studios or one‑bedroom apartments, 32 would be three‑bedroom units and the remainder would be two‑bedroom apartments.
The seventh floor, accessible by its own elevators, would include 16,561 square feet of “destination dining and entertainment spaces,” according to the application.
The proposal also includes a 530‑space parking garage.
