The City really dropped the ball on this site. There are so few locations, not just in Manhattan but the entire City, with this much available land for a single development. And this location just screams for something iconic. But instead, it just sits, gathering snow. And when something is built, it will just join the mass of skyscrapers.
If the site were rezoned today, I do believe we would be getting something more substantial. As it is, the City of Yes gives this development a little boost. The mayor will be pushing for more housing on sites, and maximizing on what can be built (around the city) in that regard. Let's hope that something great can come out of it here.
