Not only that, but being an oil producing nation in no way requires us to be the ones to use the oil domestically. Using a bit less oil in the Ontario-Quebec corridor would have little to no negative effect on oil profits. We see the same thing in Norway where they produce a lot of oil and export most while being a global leader in electrified transportation with one of the highest uptakes of EVs on the planet. If we were a major oil consumption market at the global level like the US or China that might be different.
