It's super expensive now-a-days to build at these heights and those costs get transferred to the tenants who are willing to pay those high rents. Back in the day construction workers got paid crap and their safety wasn't as regulated as it is now (Like Dubai). Construction materials used to also be a lot cheaper than it is now.
