Oh dear, that proposal reared its ugly head again. The local hotel in my area was at this location, until it was converted to a shelter over the pandemic. Now it's a forlorn site, so it's worth demolishing, since the old building hasn't been renovated (possibly ever from what I saw on my last visit there).
The height ask is very aggressive, but I'd just like to see a hotel put back on site - there's very few options anywhere nearby. This looks like the standard cheap, mass copy and paste architecture formula we see in many projects in the city, which is unfortunate. Hopefully this is redesigned in the coming years.
