Much of the Boricua Village/Melrose Commons buildings, like those early West Farms towers (not the new ones lining the Sheridan Expy), are pretty bad aesthetically and read as cheap AF, but those were built years ago. I truly hope they raise the bar going forward with these large scale affordable projects. I would love to see them break out of the literal box and have some substantial towers (30+ floors) shoot out of the bases and anchoring some prominent corners, but I understand the tight economics of these developments and get why doing that would increase costs with additional required elevators, egress, fire code regs, etc.

Anyways, this looks promising. Lets hope for the best with the design. My guess is it will be the normal crowd: Aufgang, JFA, GF55...

Interesting how the corner is cut at 165 St. That's got to be some sort of MTA-NYCTA easement in case a Park Av subway ever happens this century. That's the only thing I can think of that would explain why it's pulled back from the corner like that.
