Chicago is super clean for such a large city. Every out of town friend who visits makes that comment and when I am back there I do notice how clean it is - even the alleys.
Regarding homeless, Chicago had less than a much smaller city such as Boston of which homeless isn't really a major issue as compared to other cities - but for Chicago this was pre migrant.
