And frankly, people from most cities don't generally like hearing statements they consider inaccurate being made about their city. And implying two things X & Y are similar when they aren't means that X, Y or both are being portrayed inaccurately. In the case of Halifax, while everyone from here is different I think many of us value the city's rough, slightly gritty, old east coast vibe. Superficial comparisons to a place we view as being quite different kind of erases a lot of what we consider the most relevant and valued traits. It has nothing to do with liking or disliking the other place. Sort of like when Asians or Black people get annoyed when someone says they're similar to another person of the same race who, beyond being the same race, isn't very similar to them. It has nothing to do with disliking the person they're being compared with.
So why were you saying you weren't annoyed again?

And holy hell, equating casual racism to people comparing cities. What a comment.
