The big storms get a lot of attention but they're maybe 1-2% of the total days. There are a lot more nice days than tropical storm or snowstorm days. And the storms aren't really an issue for modern construction. Almost all of the damage is from falling trees and branches, which you won't get on a highrise balcony above the trees.
