Reminds me of Hog Island, one of the barrier dune islands in PEI along the northern fringe of Malpeque Bay.

When I was doing my undergraduate biology degree at UPEI, we went on a field trip out to the island. We crossed a brackish channel in small zodiacs, trudged through a salt marsh at the back of the dune, and then crested the dune on the way to the beach.

I will always remember the moment I crested the dune and saw a continual barrier dune system curving to the southeast, all the way to the horizon, with the most perfect, wonderful beach fronting the dune system. The waves were crashing on the beach and seals were sunning themselves everywhere, and, most importantly, there was not a human or a human built edifice to be seen, anywhere........

It was all so beautiful and unspoiled. It was a near religious experience.
