An hour well-spent.

I haven't been to Worcester in at least 25 years, and it looks like it has really cleaned up its act. Great bones, good proximity to Boston, and well-connected to the regional transport networks--I'm going to go check house prices on Zillow, haha.

Have always wanted to visit. Since I have relatives and friends in MA and CT, I may be able to visit Worcester someday.

Nice pictures! I've only driven through Worcester a couple times, on my way to New Hampshire. I'm normally along New England's southern coast, so I don't normally make it up that far. It seems like an interesting place to explore. I wonder if it's the best of Massachusetts' mill towns.

Worcester is doing well. At just under 207,000, this is the most people the city has ever had. +14% from 2010.

I think Lowell wins this title handily. Not many mills left in Worcester, whereas the ones in downtown Lowell are dead sexy.

Neither of them are mill towns anymore. While Lowell has repurposed Industrial to Residential. In a cool way. Worcester is much more vibrant. They seem to have done a better job with redevelopment.

I think that's the deciding factor to me between Worcester and Lowell, or Holyoke, etc. It seems more dynamic and multifaceted nowadays.

I lean towards Northampton and Amherst in the Pioneer valley. Taking the T into Copley or South station from Worcester is kind of cool.

Damn I need to go to Lowell again. It's been 20 years or so. Last time I was there, it was rough, and dirty, and cracking all over the place, but... firm, in a way that I had just never experienced before from a small city. I knew big cities, small towns, suburbs, even urban suburbs, but not old small cities like Lowell. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with cities; one of the places that taught me how diverse and interesting cities are.

I gather it's a wealthier and happier place now. Need an excuse to go.

Good pics of Worcester! You made it look a lot nicer than it is. While they have added some residential and the new (ugly) ballpark, they also continue to fail in historic preservation. Take a look at this beautiful downtown church that was demolished back in 2018.

To address comments above, downtown Lowell typically feels more vibrant than Worcester. Worcester's downtown doesn't really extend beyond what's shown in the pictures here. Lowell is overall more interesting with all of the rivers and canals, and a tighter layout.

I really need to explore Massachusetts beyond Boston and Cambridge.
