Where in Vancouver is this from?
 

Hi, I am sorting through my parents' old photos from a holiday we took out to Vancouver in 1965. I am trying to find out where exactly this photo is from.

Is this Vancouver harbour? Or English Bay?

That’s the Stanley Park seawall with the 9 o’clock gun, looking out to Vancouver Harbour.

That's Coal Harbour and the gas station is still there.

Heh, well that was an easy one.

Hard to imagine a time before Canada Place and Harbour Centre; feels like they've always been there.

That makes sense, the building under construction looks like 900 West Hastings with that massive blank side wall. Built in 1965 and the old Bank of Canada building.

Almost as easy as T-ball!

I always thought it would be a neat idea to have thread like his where forumers could post photos (historical or contemporary) and try to stump everyone where in Vancouver they are from.

Heh, that's a fun variation of photo tag.

There's a motorcycle forum (BC Sportbikes) that does something similar, but you have to go to the place and get a photo of your bike there to recreate the original photo. If you get there first, then you get to issue the next photo challenge. The locations are really not very easy to find at times.
