That's a nice looking facility!

I wonder if the trail is a nice spot for people to run their dogs in the future

Boy, scrolling back, this image in particular really grinds my gears. I know, I know -- it's a suburban office park with a sports facility as an anchor . . . but holy geez, look at all those surface parking lots. That's the Parmer Heat Island in the making right there.

Have you... been over there? It's way worse in real life than it looks in that rendering.

The low density will ensure that it's somewhat quiet/non-hectic, though, which I guess is good for players' concentration.

Still, my guess is that one day those lots will turn into infill development.

park and ride

austin fc has talked about using all of that surface parking as a park and ride for games. kind of a good idea if that pub comes to life next to the pond, otherwise the closest bar is woodrow's i think. also, i think that trail running thru the middle of the photo is where the transmission line is located.

Yeah, I've been over there -- at least enough to see how bad it already is. It's like Little Office Park on the Prairie. One five story building surrounded by acres of open space. Depressing.

I do think you're right -- at some point in the distant future, some/all of that has the potential to go Broadmoor on us. Crossing fingers it's sooner.

I still dont see how light rail will make it to techridge. the closest right of way is the old katy line that goes way east and cuts through my neighborhood.

The median of N. Lamar and Howard Ln. Lots of section will have to be widened to available ROW. This isn't in the 1st round of funding so they aren't working on the exact engineering.

Construction has started on the practice facility.

Austin FC have broken ground on their own training facility, a privately-funded ground known as the St. David’s Performance Center. It includes a $45-million investment from Two Oak Ventures, the club’s parent company and ownership group.

The facility is set to open in spring 2021, and sits on a 23-acre site at Palmer Point in North Austin with two state-of-the-art buildings that have a 30,000 square-foot presence. It will house Austin FC’s first team, academy players, technical staff and soccer operations leadership with four full-sized pitches, including three natural grass surfaces and one artificial turf surface. There’s also a half-sized grass pitch, with the artificial surface home to spectator stands and concession infrastructure that can accommodate approximately 1,000 ticketed guests.

“Two Oak Ventures and Austin FC are pleased to begin work on the next phase of our critical infrastructure plan as we prepare for the formal launch of our inaugural season in 2021,” majority owner and CEO Anthony Precourt said in a statement. “St. David’s Performance Center is a world-class training facility and a key component in the future success of Austin FC.”

The construction timeline would coincide with Austin’s introduction to MLS in 2021 as an expansion team. The name derives from a partnership with St. David’s HealthCare, which was named the club’s first founding partner in May 2019.

“St. David’s Performance Center is going to provide our first team and academy teams with one of the best soccer training experiences anywhere in North America,” sporting director Claudio Reyna said. “As a former player, I know the importance of training in the best possible surroundings, and St. David’s Performance Center will provide this to our players, from first team to the academy. In a few short months, the facility will be open right on schedule for our inaugural MLS season in 2021.”

As construction gets underway, Austin also continues to make progress on their soccer-specific stadium. ESPN broadcaster Taylor Twellman recently gave an on-the-ground sneak peek of how construction is going at McKalla Place.

The expansion draft should be in November or December.

Dirt is definitely moving. They tore up a whole bunch of trees. There are, like, piles of trees laying there.

Its just down the street from me. I was surprised had how fast they started moving on the dirt. One day there are cows and hay bales and next a good amount of dirt is tore up. I wonder if that Pond is open and ready. It would be a good place to walk instead of lake Pflugerville.

So cool! "The Pitch" looks like it will be a fan experience area where people will be able to hang out before or after the games; play some volleyball, have a drink at the shipping containers, etc. Way more elaborate than I expected. It should be like a pre-gaming area for fans who will be able to take a shuttle to the stadium.

Living 2 minutes from this development, I'm really glad they're adding Sector 2 and Sector 5. It will make the practice facility feel more incorporated into the whole Parmer development.

Also, thus far, none of the Parmer buildings have fronted Parmer the way these Sector 2 ones will.

The whole thing will help my property value before I sell in a few years.

I think this is the actual performance center.
