Hamilton's Drive-Through Regulations

I'm trying to find information on the City's regulations regarding drive-through restaurants.

Are there any restrictions on where drive-throughs are permitted?

I tried to search the topic on our forum but no luck.

Thanks for any help!

I know maybe 10 years ago the City banned drive throughs in the downtown area. The A&W on King W was the last before the bylaw was updated.

I believe it's been longer than 10 years. I feel like I recently saw something from CHCH saying it was 15 years ago. Which would mean the A&W drive through was likely allowed because it existed pre-renovation.

Anyways, more generally, drive-thru's are terrible urbanism and terrible for the environment. But, if they're banned city wide, I see many more fast-food restaurants instituting those special parking spots where people drive up, park, and have their food brought out to them. If people would not idle when parked, that would be great, but in my experience they do.
