AUSTIN | 410 Uptown | FT | 16 FLOORS | DEMO

Noticed we don't have a thread on this one.

Spotted some activity on site today, though I'm not sure if it means anything significant.

Looks like a pretty generic blue glass rectangle, but at least it seems to have decent street-level interaction, and it adds some much-needed density to that area.

Now if only that Chick-fil-a and the other underutilized lots in that area would be redeveloped. Domino's, old Taco Cabana, 7-11, Pizza Hut, Cane's....

For those who have been debating what to call this area ( which makes me laugh).... note the name!

They better not touch that Chick-fil-a until there's another one close to downtown. If they got rid of that, where's the closest one to the state capital? Ben White and I-35?

I am SHOCKED this didn't have a thread going. I love uptown too....would kill to see a slender tower go up there soon.

Wow only in crazy under construction Austin would we casually not have a thread for this lol

While I will admit Cane's has been a guilty drunken pleasure.....

I have to agree with you.... out to the burbs with all of you drive thru chains . ( and just plain away with Bigot-fil-a )
And 7-11 has just become an urban magnet for panhandling and homeless. Away.

From a more realistic standpoint, I bet that suburban strip will last another 10 years before the area gets totally redeveloped. Just a guess.

Chick-fil-a is delicious. Huge fan of theirs.

The original floor count I have for this is 16. I haven't seen any elevations of it and I'm not sure the site plan is active, so it's a been a little bit off my radar.

By the way, this is a quote of Urbannizer's post from last May. It doesn't look like much has changed on the site.

This brochure says 12 stories but it too is displaying renderings of a 16-story tower. I’ll take it as an error and edit the title to 16.

As for Chik-fil-a and Canes, they both need to be the first to go. Even with two lanes, the drive thru for Chik-fil-a gets ridiculous and spills out onto MLK. It’s the only one centrally located and with no indoor dining many in the immediate area drive instead of walk, just for a bite. The two add a lot of traffic to an already congested intersection during rush hour. Both chains are so use to the suburbs I bet they didn’t even consider an urban format. As Kevin said in another thread, official Downtown boundary lines north is to MLK, meaning both are actually drive-thru chains within Downtown.

I think student housing is most suitable for both sites.

The only permits I ever recall seeing were for the demo. This project has been somewhat of a mystery.

There's a pickup truck out on this site this morning. Can't really tell what they are doing out there but it's the first activity I've seen out here in a while.

Oddly there is a pickup truck form the construction company on or across the street from this site on a semi-regular basis. Can never figure out what they are doing except maybe checking on the integrity of the fencing??? Security?
Dunno.

That puts an end to this project since the site has no entitlements related to the 410 Uptown building.

Any idea which broker has it?

The brochure also mentioned a future hotel by Chameleon Hotel group. Anyone here know anything about that?

That's the Travis County Courthouse block, so no hotel. But the other businesses on that block according to the brochure map like El Mercado are not located where the map has them.

EDIT: I should add that the Chameleon Hotel Group is one of the developers of the Courthouse which is misleading.

Thanks!
