[New West] Ovation | 32 fl | Completed

Quote:

Ovation New Westminster is a striking 32-storey architectural landmark gracefully positioned in the heart of vibrant and historic downtown New Westminster. Paying homage to New Westminster’s influential arts and culture scene and deep-rooted history of the performing arts, Ovation is a diverse selection of one, two, and three-bedroom flats and city homes.

This one isn't proposed. It's approved and they've already knocked down the buildings that were on the site. It'll be under construction really soon.

Everything is considered proposed until it's actively under construction.

I finally saw them digging here today.

From a Nov 19, 2019 article:

Quote:

Members of New Westminster’s arts community are giving a standing ovation to a new housing project that’s getting underway.

Work is getting underway this month on a project at 831 Carnarvon St., which includes 204 market condominiums in the 32-storey Ovation building and 66 non-market rental units in the eight-storey PAL New Westminster building. The project is aiming to be complete in the summer of 2022.

PAL New Westminster will include 25 studios and 41 one-bedroom units for those from arts-oriented professions with low to moderate incomes, with priority going to seniors and people with disabilities.

...
The 8 storey building will likely be completed by summer 2022 but it's a safe bet that the 32 storey Ovation will more likely be completed a year later. Sure the garages were knocked down over a year ago but they didn't start digging until now, which only gives them 2 and a half years to have it finished in summer 2022 - I really don't see that happening at this location.

There were cement trucks on Carnarvon when I went by yesterday.

Is anyone with a camera planning on heading to New West? This is above ground now.

Sheba Jul 21, 2021 9:05 PM

I'm not sure how to link images from Skyscraper City - there are some newer ones from June 24th.

They're currently pouring the 17th floor.

Thanks!
That first shot really shows the elevation change in the area, with the driveway for the building on the left going onto its podium.

Thanks!
The windows look pretty ordinary, but the concrete slabs will make this building stand out.
