DC living, 2013
Here are a bunch of random DC-area pictures from the past year that didn't make it into a more specific photo set. There are a lot of one-off pictures just taken while I was going about my normal day-to-day business. About half are from my cellphone camera.
Mid City DC, as seen from my office building in Arlington: ![]() Dupont Circle is my favorite DC park. It's a great place to people watch. These next three pictures were all taken in the span of about 20 minutes, one nice summer evening. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Farragut Square has a more office-worker vibe, but it has its charms too. ![]() This is near Dupont. ![]() Connecticut Avenue, between Dupont Circle & Farragut Square. ![]() Red Line near Brookland. ![]() Brookland. ![]() New development in Brookland ![]() ![]() My wife opened a shop there this year. ![]() Downtown. ![]() Silver Spring, MD ![]() Bungalows in Takoma Park, MD ![]() Georgetown's C&O Canal ![]() Ballston, VA ![]() Alexandria, VA ![]() 17th and R NW, DC ![]() These next few are Chevy Chase, DC. DC looks like a hell of an idyllic city. It's been so long....
|
Nice looking city, I didn't realize DC now has a street car.
|
I need to get back to this city sometime when there isn't a heatwave and I'm required to wear a suit and tie all day. For all the problems that we hear coming out of DC, it's a helluva town. Solid set.

DC is very nice as I can appreciate in your fabulous pictures. Thanks for sharing and wishing to visit the capital.
The area where you live is lovely with those flowers on the streets. Merry Christmas and greetings from Madrid, Spain. |
Great photos but no love for the Navy Yard/Capitol Riverfront?
I like the Car2Go parked sideways. A few weeks ago, we tied a Christmas tree to the roof of one of those cars. |
DC and environs are really looking gorgeous these days. As the pics show, 14th street, has retail and/or construction on basically the entire stretch between O and U streets. The dead zones are gone. Same with H street NE, which has turned around even quicker.
I wonder when Noma between the convention center and union station, and the SW waterfronts will be completely built out? Imagine it's still 5-10 years away, but incredible when you consider the condition of these areas just 15 years ago. |

Great set of pics Cirrus. DC has had so many new residential buildings going up in the last decade (and future years will be crazy too), nice to see the population trends going up now.
On a side note, do you think the new street car line will be a hit or miss? Thanks Dan. |
Dupont circle, love it, 2nd best park for chess players.
|
The streetcar line is going to be a huge hit.
It will not be perfect. It'll get stuck in traffic occasionally, and drivers will complain about increased enforcement against double-parking, but riders and businesses will love it. Everybody will want one in their neighborhood. |
A redhead on a tightrope in Dupont Circle. That's sort of Cirrus heaven, I'd think.
I'm going to try that with a car2go here. Between 2 SUVs - especially folks who can't park - it might not even stick out! |
I love DC. It makes me really happy to see a lot of people riding bicycles
|
I didn't know she owned a shop! I wonder what ROO thinks...
