Hamilton Health targeting absenteeism

from CHML site
"Hamilton Health Sciences is looking at more ways to trim it's budget by up to 8-million dollars by March.

HHS President and CEO Murray Martin says the hospital will be targeting sick days as a way to save some money.

Martin says the hospital will be able to save a million dollars by reducing absenteeism over the next three months.

Absenteeism costs Hamilton Health 14-million dollars a year in overtime to cover the shifts."

This is silly. Perhaps there is a high level of absenteeism because their workforce is exposed to illness all day every workday?

Maybe a cost savings measure could be found that doesn't involve forcing ill staff to place their dripping noses above their patients.

If they want to target savings, how about reviewing the outrageous salaries for their Board of Governors.
