Does anyone know a good vet near downtown?

We have had our pooch for a while but haven't picked a permanent vet yet... We live a stones throw from St. Joe's Hospital and would rather have a vet within walking distance to home. Does anyone know of one near downtown?
Thanks!!

Hmmm... There's one at King/Dundurn (beside the Pioneer Gas Stn), and one at King/Burris (bet Sherman & Wentworth). Those are the only two in the area I know of. There's the "Animal ER" near Locke... but I thought it's for emergencies only.
Another one which is prolly closer (but up the Mountain) is on Upper James just south of Mohawk I think).

We take our cat all the way up to Mt Hope. We believed the tale of "the further away from the city, the cheaper the vet..."

ps: Vets are expensive no matter where you go!

What kind of pooch do you have?

Right now I'm dog sitting so I have two little bitches at home.

Avoid Chedoke Animal Hospital.

n/p! And if only we had free "pet"care! haha

You should definately invest in Pet Insurance tho... we learned the hard way :s

The one at King West and Locke is definitely after hours only, but they're great if you need to see a vet on the weekend, or your dog needs to be kept overnight and your regular vet doesn't have round-the-clock care.

I know it's not downtown, but I can highly recommend the Dundas Animal Hospital on King St. in Dundas (a darn sight closer than Mount Hope). We just lost our dog, but we received 11 years of wonderful care from them, including extremely compassionate end-of-life care.

Thanks guys,
Our pooch is first of all the cutest dog of all time and space, sorry to any other dog owners out there but it's a fact ;)

He is a basset/beagle mix and such a good dog! We are visiting the vet this week or next for a checkup then enrolling in insurance, probably through PC. My parents' dog swallowed a sock and thankfully they had insurance. That (plus the fear of a twisted stomach) has been reason enough to get on the insurance bandwagon, as much as I hate insurance companies.

I won't believe it until I see it. You'll have to post a puppy pic.:)
