SAN FRANCISCO | 530 Howard Street | 844 FT | 72 FLOORS
I believe the following Business Times article makes it reasonable to start a thread for this as a "proposal":

^^^It's as dead or undead as the spec office market. Time will tell.

no way this is getting built any time soon with all the open office space in the city, though it would have been a nice addition to the area (and it's silhouette is still shown in the the transbay video).

Updates...
What's the plan for this site now? And where are the official renders?
|
update
just to bring this thread a bit more up-to-date, here was socketsite from 2011, when Planning was considering approving the existing parking lot on the site for 2 more years, and from this past June, a blurb mentioning that the site has been acquired by an affiliate of Crescent Heights. no word on plans, tho.

"coming soon"?
was a bit surprised to see this on the site when I walked by yesterday:
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3723/9...d4423bbd_b.jpg maybe one of our super-sleuths can come up with the renderings to post here |
Nice! As usual, this is a huge improvement over the original Heller Manus proposal--open the link in timbad's 11/11/12 post to see it.
|
Wow, nice find! It looks like this new proposal takes full advantage of the new 450' height limit added by the Transbay Plan. Just eyeballing that rendering, it looks like it's 40+ stories.
The Transbay Plan suggested that the building on this parcel could have a direct connection to the Transit Center, but none is depicted here. The rear design reminds me of a skinny residential tower in Manhattan, although that one is on a much skinner lot. |
That is a really cool building.
|
Great find timbad, another one to block my view of the Bay Bridge. J/k, but its almost ridiculous how fast these buildings are coming out of the woodwork. Imagine this area in 5-10 years...an entirely new extension of downtown for SF.
|
Oh man, that rendering is awesome! In an era of dozens of exciting new projects, this may have jumped to the top of my radar, simply because the narrow footprint will become more prevalent down the line once the bigger lots are all snapped up. Would love to see this get built and see how it looks in the skyline.
Any more info on this? Based on the balcony inclusion and design, it looks like this iteration will be focused primarily on condos? |
Nice find, timbad. Kind of reminds me of a better designed and taller Blu.
|
Yes, great find. I love how slender this one looks from the south/north.

The Planning Commission is set to approve a continuation of the "temporary" parking lot at the hearing on July 11:

socketsite chimes in, but not much new info
|
timbad, you beat Socketsite to it by an entire month!

An article in the Business Times reveals that the designer is Glenn Rescalvo of Handel Architects, who also designed NEMA. It also says:
