i am sure that ping an will be without doubt, the most beautifully executed and by far the most celebrated skyscraper in the world upon completion. it is sure to be a tower without equal. a rare and very special gem of a tower. if this tower is even one fifth as exquisite as that tower, well then it will be wonderful then wont it.

Broad Sustainable Buildings, the company behind the Sky City proposal, released a design for a Zhongnan Center tower. Not sure if vision or actual proposal for the site.

From Wikipedia, I see this thing still hasn't started above ground construction. Maybe it is stuck with something.
Anyhow, I think the project is more likely to be cancelled, and I'm a fan of this building, so I am pretty worried about it.
On the other hand, I like the new design of this project, but at the same time, I think the old design is much better. MUCH MUCH better. It also makes some resemblance to the Sky City to me.
I have great hope that this building can get rid of the things making it on hold, and continue to rise among the Suzhou skyline.

There was always proposed to be some sort of twin building to this tower on that lot.
Here's an earlier version of the site plan. I think it's still a place holder for now.

729m is almost as tall as Burj Khalifa. And I'm sure most westeners haven't even heard about Suzhou. This tower will make the arch building looks like a dwarf!

Most people haven't heard of it because it is an adjacent city like Wuxi to the huge metropolis of Shanghai. Most westerners just consider it part of the greater Shanghai city since there is no real division between these huge cities.

A beautiful building, and yes it will most definitely overshadow the much smaller 302M/990ft Gate of the Orient.

I just visited Wuxi, Suzhou and Shanghai. Great cities, all of them (I had visited Shanghai before). Wuxi was an unexpected pleasant surprise. Suzhou has fantastic gardens (I liked the Lion Forest/Grove Garden best of all).

According to Wikipedia's List of tallest residential buildings, this will surpass NYC's Central Park Tower to become the tallest residential building in the world, using CTBUH's definition of "a residential building as one where 85 percent or more of its total floor area is dedicated to residential usage".
