Thanks. Someday the whole northern Embarcadero will have nice, shiny, new development on it. Except for the Wyndham/former Holiday Inn space. Now that would be a prime redevelopment location.

Anyone know if those stubby NAVFAC buildings behind the Wyndham will go once they build the Navy Broadway Headquarters?

It seems the Coronado Bridge bike tube might be gaining some traction! http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/...estrian-study/

CAC Park looks wonderful. The pictures from the opening really show the potential of the waterfront. I too think the large patches of dirt look a bit odd, but I think it'll improve a lot once the trees fill out. I really hope the Coronado pedestrian tube happens. It's something SD could be really proud of! Something SD shouldn't be proud of: the circus Horton Plaza Park is turning out to be.

Some tweets from NBC's Paul Krueger...

"World Class" urban park promised for Horton Plaza will remain a hole-in-the-ground til at least Oct. 2015, planners now confirm.

Lowest bid for new Horton Plaza park is $3.7 million over budget. If money's not found, planners hope donations will fill the gap.

Wow that is just pathetic. This city needs to get its act together.

The new North Park Community Plan Update and Community Plan Implementation Overlay Zone (CPIOZ) Continued Discussion map illustrates proposed zoning changes, buffer zones, and site specific areas in North Park. Folks that own older historic older homes on 29th and Ray streets are already organizing against it.

Link.

When and where are the next NPCP meetings? I think if there would be any neighborhood to push for more development, it would be TOD friendly NP.

Here is an article from VOSD to day explaining him. http://voiceofsandiego.org/2014/05/2...kes-his-money/

"All told, Briggs’ lawsuits are tying up more than $2 billion in projects across San Diego."

What a joke. He does it in the name of the environment, so people don't get upset. And he blames the developers because they're the ones who aren't obeying the law. I'm sure there's some good that comes out of what he does, but at what cost?

Laws are broken everyday (how many people exceed 70 mph on the interstate?), but there's an issue of the cost to enforce. The city/county has a limited supply of dollars to allocate toward public safety, so they accept that some lesser laws will be broken because it would cost way too much to enforce every minor infraction. Think it makes sense to hire 1,000,000 new officers (along with the equipment and patrol cars) to make sure everyone obeys the speed limit everywhere at all times? Of course not, that'd be way too expensive. But that doesn't mean the law isn't the law. And that doesn't mean public safety isn't important. It just means that we don't have an unlimited supply of money, and the city/county is doing the best it can with the resources it has.

Cory Briggs is forcing the city to allocate huge sums of money toward his agenda. Yes, he may technically be right most or all of the time. But that's not the issue. The issue is that he's single-handedly stalling development on a massive scale during a time when our economy is trying to recover from a crippling recession. It's not as black and white as Briggs makes it out to be...

Maybe I'm slow and this has been around for awhile, but was checking out this website/blog for updates:

http://www.sandiegostreets.com/

I really wish they had an interactive map, but at least the information is current. The "civic San Diego" site is utterly useless, with a ton of outdated information.

I have to say I like the tree lighting that's been taking place downtown. It's a simple way to make neighborhoods seem more inviting at night.

tyleraf May 29, 2014 6:03 AM

Nice website. I just bookmarked it and will be watching it.

I'm sure this will be followed by countless other appeals, but it's progress I guess...

SDfan May 30, 2014 1:51 AM

Scathing ruling. I love it.

tyleraf May 30, 2014 2:05 AM

Thank God someone has some sense. Hopefully the idiots will back off and let this project proceed and remove the blight from our waterfront.

Prahaboheme May 30, 2014 4:14 AM

The tide is finally turning on Corey Briggs. He's clearly becoming a liability to any "legitimate" suit, let alone representing these thugs at the coastal commission.

Just how far can that guy go? He was quoted on saying he was going to go back another round.

Is there any point where he becomes liable?

Derek May 30, 2014 6:26 PM

Off topic but...

Does anybody have info on the Japan Airlines route to Tokyo? I heard it's being cancelled after summer, but I can't find any news on it.

tyleraf May 30, 2014 6:27 PM

Unfortunately no. He can file as many suits as he wants with no consequence.
