Just three years ago this image would have been so different. In that sliver of construction alone, you could point to three buildings/sites and say "New, newer, newest."

These hold up the forms for the floor, once the floor sets they are cranked down, the form pried off, and they are then re-used a few levels up.

Good neighbors - venting the concrete pump out to the street - not into the tight alley.

I didn't realize how complex this thing is. No wonder it's taking so long to rise.

Parking podiums usually take a lot of time to build because of the intricacies of the ramps.

Fvn Jan 1, 2018 8:38 PM

it'll fly once the podium is done (looks about half way?)

They've already got glass up on the first 2 floors. It's been dark when I've walked past but looks decent so far from what I've seen.

^ Thanks for the update Bvic. Good to see some new eye-catching architecture there in the south loop!

Bombardier Feb 15, 2018 1:16 PM

That glass looks cool! I think this building will look great when it is complete.

BVictor1 Feb 15, 2018 2:30 PM

^^I just noticed in my own images, but look how the edges of the tower are cut off to create the shape.

F1 Tommy Feb 15, 2018 2:35 PM

This one and One South Halsted are two little gems from this boom. They are also built in good areas in need of some stand out architecture.

Notyrview Feb 15, 2018 2:58 PM

So far so good. The sculpted edges juxtapose nicely with that neoclassical bldg.

SamInTheLoop Feb 15, 2018 3:06 PM

Glass is looking sharp. Very pleasant surprise.

Also, gives me hope that the entire tower might be curtain wall, which is always very nice to see on a residential tower.....sick of all the cheating-out with window wall.....

It still is window wall. It's called hybrid window wall. It looks like curtain wall, but the system starts and stops at the slab edges. Saves money on fire safing all the slab edges.

colemonkee Feb 15, 2018 10:47 PM

Wow, I never knew there was a hybrid window wall. That's amazing. It looks just like curtain wall. #icantbelieveitsnotbutter

nice if that's what it looks like

Wow, that's one hell of an attractive rendering.

KWillChicago Feb 16, 2018 1:42 AM

Those corner windows will look baller from the inside.

Arm&Kedzie Feb 16, 2018 2:32 AM

Kind of getting a subtle Vista vibe in that rendering.

donnie Feb 16, 2018 3:15 AM

This is one of the few that ends up surpassing its renderings!

gebs Feb 16, 2018 2:54 PM

These building nicknames are getting a little hyperbolic, but I will admit, it's much, much better than "SoMi".

Much better name. Time to update the thread title!

BuildThemTaller Feb 16, 2018 4:33 PM

Just noticed in the new rendering that the gym is on the top floor amenity deck facing East and then there's an outdoor area with what I assume will be a pool on the West side. Very cool. I would love to run on that treadmill looking out at Lake Michigan in the winter. And then to have those views of downtown Chicago on the sun deck in the summer... Very nice.

Interesting....thanks for the explanation. If it looks this good, hybrid window wall system works for me!

"Female element" :haha: We are adults, you can call it a vagina

left of center Feb 20, 2018 12:20 AM

Adding in the masculine element on the east facade facing Michigan, it appears that the architect clearly had something else on his mind when designing this building :haha:
