Buffalo NY - Summer 2019 Bike & Hike

Photos taken mainly on camera phone during daily walks and bike rides in and near my neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, USA during Summer 2019.

Weather has been near perfect the last few weeks for extended rides along the Niagara River between downtown Buffalo and Tonawanda Harbor just north of Buffalo, and along the hike and bike trails extending out from the City.

Neighborhoods traversed during rides include North Buffalo/North Park, Riverside, Black Rock, West Side, Lower West Side, Elmwood Village, Allentown, Downtown, Canalside, Cobblestone, Unity Island, Bird Island, Erie Basin Marina, Tonawanda, and North Tonawanda (including Tonawanda Island).

Most places don't sell it in the summertime, but I will check back in the fall. Perry's does sell a "One Buffalo" flavor ice cream though, that is vanilla ice cream with sea salt caramel swirls, sponge candy pieces, and fudge-coated pretzels. I can get too addicted to Perry's so I have to watch it.

Ha!

You made me look! There are places called Buffalo in at least 3 other countries (not NZ or Kenya, but Australia and South Africa though) and over 20 US States - but I was acting out of habit I guess when referring to the region, as it is on the US-Canada border and I sometimes reference places on both sides. There are plenty of Canadian flags on the US side, so it may not always be obvious which side of the border the photos were taken.

I also once had a responder who asked where my pictures of New York City were, as they assumed I meant both cities when I listed Buffalo, New York.

But yes, I was redundant for people who know US states.

Nice pictures! I love the waterfronts of the Niagara Frontier (or whatever it's called for that area on both sides of the border). There's just so much to do there: beaches on both lakes in both countries, a few rivers to explore by boat, several places for water skiing, plenty of fishing spots (personally not my thing), and the falls.

I was living in Austraia for some years, yea, but, I googled Buffalo Australia and that's what I got: water buffalo in australia - water buffalo were imported to Australia in the 19th century to supply meat to remote northern settlements.

I also never thought some one was bored enough to "bike" and "hike" from Buffalo to NYC..

My niece is now going to Nursing school at UB. She tranfered from Elmira College. She is much happier. So are we...
