I know these tall skinny towers are designed by engineers etc.., but sometimes they look like they'll fall over the first time a strong hurricane comes through.
Nice to see the changes in Manhattan's skyline. |
|
On floor 81. Officially at 1,100 feet. Only 2 residential floors remain along with 4 mechanical floors and 1 windbreak.

I've always wondered what would happen to this tower if say a Cessna or even something bigger hit it accidentally. Doesn't seem like it could take much force impacting it with it being so skinny.
|
The concrete shear walls on each side are huge. I doubt a cessna would do much at all other than facade damage if it hit the sides.

In my latest video this great tower shows up from this angle here in Rockaway Queens:

I worried about this thing being too skinny but it actually looks really cool from a lot of angles.
That width and 1,400+ foot height makes this thing epic |

Can't help but to look at the Park Lane hotel in post #2744. So much potential for a skyline altering tower at that location. Aesthetically, assuming design is stellar, I'd like to see something that eclipses 111 W 57th. Kinda acting as a counterbalance for CP E.
