I couldn't find it before, but here is the official press release from Springfield Land Development Corp.'s website.
It mentions that villagers living in the Science City region would be given property, employment and be made stakeholders in the overall development. They also say Science City is the "first of several projects several projects with Juron in India which have now come to fruition." I guess that means there are even more megacities in the lineup! Springfield Land Corporation Signs New City Deal in India Quote:

Greater Springfield Land Corp's bi-monthly magazine Big Picture (March/April 2007 ed), "The Odyssey Science City" [PDF] offers some tantalizing facts about this project, straight from the horse's mouth:

Is the City now being built in Karnataka or still the Anantpur Region of AP?
|
Hi,
It is to be built in in Anantapur, AP, but Bangalore would be its closest metro city. It's meant to be an alternate destination for FDI than Bangalore. For more information on the project, including location, check out this discussion: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=435097 From there Quote:
