I don't know the first thing about cargo shipping in Canada, but at first glance I find it surprising that Moncton's numbers are so high and that Edmonton's are so low. Everyone else seems about right.

Moncton is of course competing with Halifax, but our airport is aggressively pursuing cargo traffic, and is a terminus for Purolator, Fed Ex and UPS. Our central location in the Maritimes helps. Having said all this, I don't think that Stats Can table accurately captures all the air freight out of YHZ. Halifax Stanfield sends a lot of seafood to Europe and the Middle East, and I don't think that is being reflected here. I know for a fact that YHZ has greater cargo numbers than YQM, but the difference between the two airports is not substantial. |

Saskatoon's YXE airport was recently rated North America's most improved airport after its renovation and expansion. I believe YXE washrooms apparently have concrete reinforcement to allow for protection against storms. There would not be enough time for all post security passengers to exit second floor if only seconds allowed for safety in a direct hit of terminal by a tornado.. view from Saskatoon YXE airport last month.. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8754/2...ed6e310f_o.png photo courtesy of Peter McDonald speaking of weather and air travel.. hail cracked an Air Canada plane's flight deck window on a flight into Calgary a couple weeks ago.. it made an emergency landing in Lethbridge.. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7536/2...d5b16bac_o.png http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/tense-mome...torm-1.3009737 |
2015 numbers have been out a while for the major airports and I updated my 2014 Top North American Intl Airports list:
http://i.imgur.com/Xx1AKWa.png Pearson still has a solid hold on second on the continent with the only major movement being LAX vaulting over MIA for 3rd. YVR and YUL in strong position to hold their position and even make some moves as O'Hare, Newark and Hartsfield look vulnerable. |

International pax only guys...YYC is a secondary airport in that aspect, compared to YYZ, YUL and YVR. YYC had 4.5 million intl passengers last year, 3 million of which were to the US. Still, pretty impressive for Canada. A tiny nation of 36 million, and our top 3 airports are in the top 11 busiest in NA in terms of intl pax. It illustrates two things: 1. how huge the US domestic numbers are vs the intl numbers. Megahubs such as ORD, IAH and ATL have similar numbers to YUL and YVR, with DFW having less. 2. How much Canadians like to travel abroad, especially Quebecers. That number alongside YUL is 2/3 the total passenger count. The highest ratio on that list. |

How do Mexican airports rate? I would have guessed CUN would be on there, and maybe MEX? |
Charlottetown Airport numbers up almost 20% to date.
Air traffic up Many of the visitors are arriving by air, up 15 per cent from last June and almost 20 per cent for the year. With one of the Northumberland ferries out of commission, traffic from Wood Islands was down almost seven per cent. The number of visitors from the U.S. is up, as well as travellers from Ontario and Quebec. source:cbc.ca |
