Maybe this due to a shortage of 763,they must assume they will not have their 737 max back ,which confines the possibility to launch many routes during the summer peak.

It appears that Ft McMurray may be getting one direct flight to the States or Mexico. But it will be limited to on a week or every other week. They currently have no customs.

Someone I know that is with the authority. Possibly 19,/20 season . I was a bit sceptical but this person is quite high up the food chain

Sounds like a Sunwing type operation. They are known for flying into secondary/tertiary Canadian airports with flights to sun destinations. That being said, with the Max still grounded, seems to me their fleet will be stretched enough as it is this coming winter.

AC's recent schedule change shows that for the first time since 2016, there will be no 787s running long-haul flights out of YYC in April.

FRA - 77W replacing 789 (March 29-April 30)
LHR - 333 replacing 789 (March 29-June 14)
NRT - No changes yet. Probably end up being AC's sole mainline 767 route left at this point.

As nname said, lots of changes.

Frequency reductions in red. Frequency increases in blue (not taking into account aircraft swaps). New routes in Green. No mention of YUL-LIM for now.

Probably worthy of a separate post? Or just want to wait and see if it's a cancellation or seasonal suspension... but that probably won't be known for at least another month.

Alexcaban Sep 30, 2019 8:49 PM

Are all the 330s accounted for summer 2020?
After a quick count out of YUL, one framed is need for each CDG, GVA, CMN which are daily.
LYS moves to 6 weekly X3
TLS 5 weekly X13
NCE 5 weekly X24

This leaves a 330 free in YUL on certain days of the week.

Looks like the 737NG is having a pickle fork issue. (See link)

This is not good news for Boeing and NG operators. Some planes could suffer serious down time for a fix, and with the Max nowhere near recertification, could spell disaster for airlines such as WS or WG which operate mostly/all 737 fleets.

Man, i sure hope Canada can get some more flights to Sub-Saharan Africa soon. I just came back from Nigeria and used the direct from Lagos to ATL. left Lagos at 10:30 on a Friday night and was home by 9:30am on Saturday even with a layover! That never happens for me to Africa. Completely changes the distance versus going through Europe.

I don't know how many 330 AC will have by S20. Current schedule requires 12.

YUL need 1 each for YVR, CMN, CDG, NCE, TLS, LYS ... 6 with some spare days and time for the flight to YVR
YYZ need 1 each for GVA, MAD, MUC, LHR, MXP ... 5
YVR need 1 for CDG/DUB ... 1

Still don't know how would the 330 get to YVR as the Europe flight departs before the daily flight arrives from YUL. It is possible to rotate through CDG, but it seems complicated...

The Ethiopian YYZ-ADD service is great for East / Southern Africa destinations. Leave YYZ at 10am (I usually connect from an early am YSJ flight), in ADD in time for their morning departures bank, and at your final destination early afternoon... For me going to East/Southern Africa destinations, this is a 19-24 hour travel time vs 30+ with a long layover in Europe somewhere (and often a second connection in ADD/NBO/JNB).

AC doing YYZ-JNB has long been rumoured, but doubt we'll see that anytime soon.

nname Oct 1, 2019 6:47 AM

Effective Nov 1, both AC one-stop routes no longer originate from YYZ.

AC33 will become YVR-SYD
AC834 will become YUL-GVA

The YYZ segment will use a different flight number, same equipment.

I never really understood that.

Just the prestige factor of having certain flights direct (but not non-stop) from YYZ?

I guess I don't really see the point in that if one has to land and sit in YVR or YUL.

Unfortunately Porter have removed MLB / Orlando-Melbourne from their website.

None of YTZ-MLB, YOW-MLB or YQG-MLB are bookable any longer. The only option to Orlando on PD's website is now interline service with B6 to MCO.

YQG lose their only transborder route.

They had to load-restrict those flight, no?

I imagine the margins could get pretty thin if you're blocking seats on flights with only 74 passengers max.
