Miami needs to get cracking, next to New York they have like by far the most mega projects now. Not that surprising though the way the city is growing. Its like China out there.

This area of downtown is Zoned for over 1,000 ft.|300 m so why not make it a super tall siting on prominent Biscayne Blvd. and facing South Beach & the Atlantic Ocean. The design is hideous and I'm agreeing with Dale, Arquitectonica is starting to get lax especially for their hometown of Miami! Maybe the developers should give this to Zaha instead!
I hope they come up with a new design since this will be the most prominent skyscraper on the Miami skyline until One Bayfront Plaza is built! |

Interesting post from NextMiami that sums up my suspicions on this out of nowhere proposal. This plot is sort of a cutout corner in the much larger property that PMG owns (the former Empire World Towers site) and PMG has tried to buy the 340 Biscayne lot to complete the block. Everything about this tower seems designed to make the PMG site worthless. In other words pay us a lot for this land or we will build something to make your trophy site less of a trophy site.

As expected PMG is now proposing a 1041-foot tower on the adjoining lot (former Empire World Towers lot). The buildings would basically touch and block out eachothers views. Hopefully PMG buys out this 340 Biscayne Property as their designs are always amazing. Will be interesting to see this play out. Two massive proposals which basically can not be built if the other is.

BY NICHOLAS NEHAMAS nnehamas@miamiherald.com A Holiday Inn in downtown Miami sold Friday for $65 million — and the developers behind the deal plan to tear down the 10-story hotel and build a 77-story mixed-use tower in its place. The project, at 340 Biscayne Blvd., will include 400 condos, 240 hotel rooms, 270,000 square feet of retail and 246,000 square feet of office space, said Iris Escarra, an attorney at Greenberg Traurig who represents the developers. The city of Miami’s Urban Design Review Board has approved the plans for the nearly 3-acre site. At 953 feet, the World Trade Center of the Americas would be one of the tallest towers in Miami. The Federal Aviation Administration has already approved its proposed height. The buyer is Brazilian developer Gilberto Bomeny. Sunny Isles Beach developer Louis Montello is also listed on corporate documents filed by one of the companies that submitted plans to the city. World Trade Center Developer Gets $50 Million Loan
By TNM Staff on November 30, 2015 The developer who is planning the World Trade Center of the Americas obtained a $49.5 million mortgage to buy the Biscayne Boulevard land where the project is planned. The loan was issued last week, at the same time that the developer closed on the property for $65 million. Deutsche Bank is the lender. 340 Biscayne Owner, LLC is the borrower. 340 Biscayne lists an Aventura address that is the same as the developer of Regalia in Sunny Isles. The mortgage was signed for by João Woiler, an attorney from São Paulo who lists himself as an authorized representative of the borrower. World Trade Center of the Americas would become the tallest building in Miami if construction began today.
