It's great to get shots like these every couple years to see how the city is taking shape. Lots more projects over the next few years to continue the trend and East Village keeps motoring along. |

15th & Island North Tower (45 story, 479 ft.) from Pinnacle development is under site-prep. I was able to walk by the development site and saw construction equipment along with construction crew on-site.

SANDAG has proposed a new building in downtown, and they could move their headquarters into it. Looks like this site is just north of the new courthouse.

The SANDAG project sounds interesting. Luckily, it isn't in an area with a lot of residents. I look forward to seeing renders.

Can anyone answer why the FAA has a blanketed height restriction on DT when there are parts of EV and the Gaslamp that are further than a mile and a half from the runway? I always understood the 500 ft height limit to be specifically for projects within 1.5 miles of Lindbergh, but when I checked on the distance of some projects from EV, specifically Ballpark Village, they are further away than that.
Maybe I'm wrong, but in 2016, with GPS and other major advances in aircraft technology and safety, isn't there some room for negotiation on this? I get that a number of projects being approved by Civic SD aren't even coming close to 500, but then again, this skyline could use some more height. |
