Bachelors in Dublin, Husbands in Edinburgh
For the past couple of weeks, around 40 of us have been going mad in Ireland and Scotland for jeddy1989's bachelor party and wedding. Best destination wedding ever.
After the vows, we all split up to go our separate ways - the newlyweds went to the Canary Islands, half their families went to London or Spain, and Joanne and I hurried back to Ireland to stay with friends in Galway. Such a fantastic trip! It's going to take me a while to sort through all these pictures, so I'll take it one day at a time, literally. :haha: DUBLIN - Day 1 Day one was a lazy one. We got in, exhausted (WestJet moved our direct flight to Dublin to Halifax, so it basically doubles what would otherwise be a short trip for us). Dublin - Day 4
So day 4 started a little messy - those of us able to walk got up for an Irish breakfast. Then jeddy1989 and I walked to the docks to see his favourite skyscraper in the city, Emmy joined us (in her own words, "dressed like someone's Nan. I'm in rough shape b'ys" lol). Dublin - Day 5
As usual, I was up first for a little sunrise stroll before we all clamored to the airport and on to Edinburgh for the wedding. We arrived at the airport and - now that Edinburgh has them again - took the tram to our accomodations off Princes Street. This time the whole wedding party - around 10 of us, plus or minus a few spouses - was sharing a single place. Still the first day - we did a trek up the Royal Mile to check out the reception venue. It was miserable - basically winter except the trees were still green. Exceptionally beautiful street, though - tourist-focused, sure, but lovely. Sleepy and holy fuck was it ever proper. Every second person in Dublin had a vape hanging out of their mouth. I saw very nearly none in Edinburgh. Very reserved. A few friends even thought servers and the like were being rude. I never noticed that, but perhaps a reflection of the difference in overt friendliness between home and Scotland. I don't know any Scottish music except Mary Mac (which I hate) and this song, lol... so, set to this. GALWAY - Day 1
Galway was a bit of a surprise. Haven't been to the West since I was a teenager so I wasn't sure exactly what it would be like. I was even a little concerned because we were staying with friends quite far outside the core and I wasn't sure if it'd be easy to get to the center city. Long story short, Galway is St. John's. St. John's is Galway. One has better nightlife, the other has a better core. :D But they're the same. There are, of course, some differences. Such a great night out - it's not quite as busy as George Street in any one place, but it's spread out over a bigger area. There's crowds on streets even without any businesses open. And the people were best kind - spent maybe 20 minutes alone before a table adopted me. And, damn... such a fun night. I didn't even go home.
