Mexico's largest hotel operator to expand to Houston

Houston will be one of the first five U.S. cities to receive a Live Aqua hotel when the parent company expands outside of Mexico for the first time.

Mexico City-based hotel operator Grupo Posadas SAB de CV and New York-based private equity firm Bighorn Capital Inc. announced June 26 they signed an agreement to introduce the luxury boutique hotel brand to major U.S. cities.

Bighorn will invest $450 million to develop the first five hotels in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Washington, D.C. These cities were chosen for their large Hispanic populations and substantial Latin American and international tourists, who may already be familiar with the Live Aqua brand.

Chronicle's downtown building reportedly finds potential buyer

Houston-based developer Hines reportedly is in talks to buy the Houston Chronicle’s building downtown, according to Realty News Report.

The deal, which has not been finalized, could be for roughly $50 million to $55 million, according to Realty News Report.

The Chronicle building hit the market without an asking price in April. The property is two blocks south of Market Square Park and includes a 10-story office building at 801 Texas and a parking garage. HFF is marketing the property.

Prepare for liftoff: Houston approved for spaceport

The Federal Aviation Administration granted a launch site license for Ellington Airport, making it the 10th commercial spaceport in the U.S., the Houston Airport System announced June 30.

Now, HAS can turn its attention to establishing the required infrastructure and support facilities needed to accommodate reusable launch vehicles, which will launch horizontally like commercial aircraft, rather than vertically.

The spaceport could be used to launch micro satellites, train astronauts, conduct zero-gravity experiments, manufacture spacecraft and other potential activities, HAS said.

I would assume based on nothing that any tower that is developed probably wouldn't be very tall, right? Their 48-story tower is the tallest project in the city in quite some time. No reason to believe it would surpass anything Hines has done recently.
