and werent cities like Madison, Wisconsin and Jackson, Mississippi first named after people? Are these people really naming their kids after cities?

I knew an Isreal, Denver, and an Aurora in high school. I've also known a Georgia, Warren, and a Sydney.

Madison is a popular name. I know two. Do people really name their kids Memphis?

Hot Rod Jun 9, 2007 5:53 AM

Some of those names are laughable (Memphis?????, Boston?????), some are appropriate (Elizabeth).

What's next? "Come here, Salt Lake!!"

"Portland, Go Clean Up Your Room!!!"

"Humptulips" is awesome. ... LOL

I'm surprised Indianapolis didn't make the list. I've known quite a few by that name....

In all seriousness though, I have known a Portland. It's got that old money, British aristocracy ring to it... like Lord Portland Winchester III

Well I knew an Austin Dallas Houston (Houston as surname) in High School.

I-215, the SSA logs all names of ss card holders and it is relative easy process to do a computer search and log of the records for online posting. Not much overhead involved.

Ciao,
AWACS
