My St. Louis visit PART FOUR :: Downtown's Loft District in the evening

This part of downtown STL is seeing a huge influx of loft and condo conversions revitalizing the area. It also has an impressive architectural stock and many solid streetwalls.

Yes, there were people around. No, I didn't get photos of them, so no complaints please. I was shooting in HDR, which is great for architectural scenes at twilight, but not so great for capturing streetlife.

I must say.....

....those shots are impressive. This is a side of St Louis I haven't seen...very clean and what a nice grouping of older buildings.

looks freakin' awesome!

great shots.

soleri Apr 12, 2007 3:40 AM

love the hyper-real photography.

As much as everyone loves skyscrapers, it's really the old buildings that send us. St Louis has some great ones.

realcity Apr 12, 2007 1:14 PM

fantastic. How are you doing that treatment to the photos?

It is the curved bulding sharing an intersection with Christ Church Cathedral and the library.

Edit - sorry, I see everyone else has already answered your question.

matguy7070 Apr 13, 2007 2:47 AM

One o the best loft districts in the country imo.

beautiful job! Thank you.

Arch City Apr 13, 2007 3:16 AM

Awesome photos. Very comprehensive.

And to think the strip is still emerging with new retail, retaurants, condos, lofts, and a forthcoming live/work office building.

I think the Episcopal Cathedral nextdoor is my favorite in the city. I used to get so excited to go there when I was a kid. I was confirmed there and will be married there. The building holds a pretty special place in my heart. sniff.
