That’s actually turning into a nice looking skyline.

Doesn’t help that part of the city at street level, but at least it looks nice from afar.

This thing is freaking insane! It's the most beautiful tower I've ever seen. In my opinion there isn't a better looking tower at the moment or any time soon..! (But feel free to try and change my mind)

Reminds me of Loos's Tribune Tower entry! Alluding to a column.

Does anyone know if the tower will be open by mid November? I'll be in Beijing and really want to go to the top.

Seems very unlikely.

Generally with observation decks, you buy your ticket at ground level and then head up. If that's the case then they would need to finish all construction and be cleaned up and landscaped by November. While I don't know, I'd imagine that the observation deck isn't any sort of priority for the building's owners. I'd be surprised if any observation deck(s) in the building were open before next year.

not far now

Man, that observatory space is going to be amazing...

... on the 4 clear days a year when one can enjoy it.

Would anyone happen to know when the observation deck will be open to the public? Judging by the previous photo two months ago, they should be very close now.

I think China's smog problem is exaggerated. I was in Hangzhou and Shanghai in May 2015 for a week, and in Beijing in Apr 2016 for 3 days. On both trips I brought face masks thinking I would need them, but the skies were perfectly clear every single day, and the air felt fine.

BTW it was awesome to see the 632m Shanghai Tower in person. It's the only megatall I've ever seen. On the other hand, I don't recall seeing as many skyscrapers in Beijing as shown in the photos above. They must have added lots of skyscrapers in just a couple years.

Yeah, it's not smoggy every day but believe me, when it's bad, it's bad.
One time I went up in an observation tower in Beijing and the furthest I could see was across the street.

KPF completes Beijing's tallest skyscraper

Quote:

The 528-metre-tall CITIC Tower designed by American firm Kohn Pedersen Fox is the tallest skyscraper in Beijing, the fourth-highest in China and number eight worldwide.

Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) designed the 109-storey skyscraper, which is widely known as China Zun, to have a distinct profile on account of how visible it would be on the city's skyline.
