verticalextropy Apr 12, 2008 11:51 PM

Havent been in San Felix for a while and, this is very good Austin, by incorporating the waterfront you've got a real skyline there.
Kudos

verticalextropy Apr 12, 2008 11:51 PM

is there a map, perpendicular aerial shot?

Peter Apr 13, 2008 12:21 AM

They look good but these textures seem all too familiar...

Aleks Apr 13, 2008 3:16 AM

St. Regis? My cities aren't special enough to have St. Regis.

I love the Baytown condo's. The shape has a really modern feel to it and the textures really go with it. The only thing you should change is the St Regis logo. Paint it golden or some fancy rich people color like red. The Galcorp Towers are one of my favorite in the city. So clean with small windows but the blue facade looks great.

Austin55 Apr 13, 2008 8:27 PM

Wow,loks like Galcorp isa popular one.

Anyways,I will post some more condos soon. I ran out of time. also,I dont think im gonna render. I agree with patrick, rendering takes the fun out of it.

But thanks for all the comments!

Aleks Apr 14, 2008 2:08 AM

Idk, I'm rendering some buildings with textures and they looks great. Do you change the fog color so that the sky looks different? I do that sometimes to make sunset shots, well before I started to render. You should also control the shadows because you can make it night if you set darkness at 100% and light at 0%. Just play around and post some shots. It's gonna look great watch.

Austin55 Apr 14, 2008 2:15 AM

no,I dont use fog for that. I turn the fog Pink, and use it like a green screen to photoshop skys. theres no pink in the city,so thats why I use pink.

Also,I have several hundred textures on thousends of faces,so yeah, rendering isnt fun.

I really dont use shadows,it cuts the performance by about 130%,and im to lazy.:P

Aleks Apr 14, 2008 2:43 AM

You can just turn them on when taking a picture. And when you move turn them off.

verticalextropy Apr 14, 2008 2:46 AM

rendering is a pita but i have some buildings that look good with txtures on edges off and others viceversa, so my city only looks good through godang kerky.

ok,so Ive been deleting ugly, lowqaulity buildings all over the city to open it up and give a more LA or Seattle feel, with parks and plazas. Im alsopulling out crappy building one by one and upgrading them.:D

Thanks for looking!

treras93 May 2, 2008 2:45 AM

Yay! an update sort of...

they look great. cant wait for the new revamped buildings:tup:

Peter May 2, 2008 3:01 AM

It's been awhile. Nice views :D Some of the best angles your city has ever been shot from. The building on the right side in the first pic with the black glass and white edges is awesome! I know it's been there, but I don't remember seeing it that close before. A top view of everything would be great, to get an idea of the setup. I imagine it has changed since the last time a top view was shown.

Patrick May 2, 2008 6:17 AM

Deleting crappy buildings is a great idea, San Felix's skyline is a bit crowded, and yes Seattle and LA have several empty lots in between, but overall those are what keep the skylines from becoming to East Coast like.

Dac150 May 2, 2008 6:54 PM

I'm looking foward to seeing your city's revamp. I think it's going to look great.

verticalextropy May 2, 2008 8:46 PM

i like the black box in the first picture of the last update, the city's going very well! keep the updates

Aleks May 2, 2008 11:11 PM

Sounds great Austin. I like that black box too. And the small blue building in the last shot. I like that you're gonna base some of the skyline from Seattle. I do love the plaza's we have and the empty lots but sadly, a lot of those things are disappearing. We're getting great buildings though and parks pop up all the time here so it's ok.

Austin55 May 3, 2008 4:24 AM

Yay! lots of comments.
Just want to mention the revamp wont be huge, but itll be a nice upgrade:yes:

Most recognized building,
