Good to see them increasing to Canada, too bad it's on destinations already served though, would be nice to add some new destinations :)
Anyone know the delay in Montreal posting their September stats? All the others have posted already. |

Big day for Canadian Airports, YVR, YYC, YYZ, YUL and even YEG getting in on the action with new route announcements.
Can't remember a day with so many different airports getting a new route announcement. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BrhFJBRCQAIOVp3.jpg https://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j...12083094698328 |
I'd be curious to know how long it's been since YEG had a US destination on AC. Anyone know?

Nav Can stats on aircraft movements so far this year. (until October)
YYZ - 390,262 YVR - 283,248 YUL - 197,852 YYC - 195,199 YDT (Boundary Bay) - 156,070 YOW - 126,538 YBW (Springbank) -123,991 YEG - 116,448 YXX (Abbotsford) - 116,421 YTZ - 112,026 YYJ - 107,365 YWG - 102,574 YQB - 101,827 YHU - 100,829 In terms of airports without a control tower, besides Red Deer, Mirabel is now the busiest FSS in the country. So far 48,000 movements this year til October. Considering the complexity of the mix of traffic (CSeries, helicopters, CRJs, VFR's, F18s, cargo planes), there is a real possibility that a tower could open again in YMX in the near future. |
Interesting stats, I hadn't realised that Springbank was as busy as they are. I thought they were more on a par with CYKF.

Just realized Ottawa doesn't have a direct flight to Las Vegas, I am somewhat surprised by that.
I have to go to Vegas for a conference, (not from Ottawa, but will be there for work), and just tried booking and nothing at all in January. Did they ever have it or just lose it? |

YOW has no direct flights at all to anywhere in the western US. Largely because of Ottawa's role as a mostly government town, YOW has extensive domestic connections (especally Northern--it's actually the primary gateway to reach Nunavut) but weak transborder and international. The most likely addition to transborder in the coming years, IMO, is not Ottawa-Las Vegas, but probably Ottawa-San Francisco. With the recent resurgence of Ottawa's tech industry it's a likely target, plus there's hard data that the number of people flying YOW-SFO through connecting points is more than sufficient for a direct route. The main issue from what I gather is such a route is very much not in the interests of any of the major airlines because of the changes it would create in connection patterns. That's why some have hypothesized that when Porter gets its C-Series jets, YOW-SFO could be one of the first routes they choose to launch with them. |

Both services didnt last long, if I remember correctly. As for YOW-SFO, technically, LAS had a larger O&D in 2016, but not by much. 48,521 vs 46,287. |

I am coming for a meetings in the tech space, so was fairly surprised they didn't have anything heading to vegas. A group of 30 of us in our industry are heading out from Ottawa, now just connecting back in Toronto. |
I always wondered why Toronto didn't have a flight to Omaha.
