Top of the Rock is going to have to lower its observation deck prices soon.

I don't think so. That place is always crowded with tourists, and will continue to be, as is the Empire State.

Yeah, it's getting up there. Won't be long now before it's topped out.

The views here are already great. You can look down on the animals in the zoo without even going in...:) Or watch the action in the rink.

This one is a little older, but it reminds me of that vista down 57th Street we will get when this tower is topped out...

So timeless!
This will fit well with the old buildings along Central park as well as the new towers going up along 57th.

NYguy Jan 17, 2018 12:34 AM

Yes, and it's starting to get up there. We should be at the first setback level now.

This thing is unreal - quite a thing to watch this tower rise.

This will surely become a global landmark.

It will become one of the skyscrapers people think about when they think of the New York skyline. Not the tallest, but like the Chrysler, a building that captures the imagination of what a great NY skyscraper should be.

not seeing a setback as yet, but it has to be getting close to one

Owners of 111 West 57th Street supertall notch court victory over obscure REIT
Judge denies Ambase’s request to block foreclosure

The owners of 111 West 57th Street notched a major court victory last week when a New York Supreme Court dismissed Ambase Corp.’s latest attempt to block the development’s foreclosure.

Ambase, an obscure holding company based in Connecticut, once owned a 59 percent stake in the supertall condo project but fell out with the building’s developers, Michael Stern and Kevin Maloney. Amid the dispute, the building’s mortgage fell out of balance and the most junior mezzanine lender, Spruce Capital Partners, took control of the project through foreclosure in late August.

Litigation is not over....

Ambase continues to pursue another lawsuit versus the developers. They make some seemingly legitimate complaints about the developers withholding required budget info as the costs grew, ultimately causing the foreclosure situation. The court filings make for some interesting reading for anyone interested.

Yea but you dont just go up there to see central park. Thats definitely a draw but you have 360* views of the city. Plus tower verre is one of the best towers of all time and youll have an up close view of the top of the tower. Thats going to be pretty badass to be able to be standing in open air next to the top portion of the tower.

They will age like a fine wine. The Woolworth Building looks just as fine today as it was when it was built over a hundred years ago. I don't think at the time anybody worried about how it would "age" over time. But buildings do age. The great ones only get better, and New York has many of those.
